Links

    1. Using these directions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/links/, method 2, the link looks very bad indeed, showing the html.
    2. Trying to get an Amazon tile to work seems impossible.
    3. Getting links to work in widgets is iffy at best.
These are serious flaws. Is there any way to make these to work? Or should I abandon wordpress.com?

I think you have written like this –

    <p>Let Food Be Your Medicine: Dietary Changes Proven to Prevent or Reverse Disease<img width=”1″ height=”1″ border=”0″ style=”border:none !important;margin:0!important;” alt=”” src=”http://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=faithfamilyme-20&l=as2&o=1&a=1617955884″>” target=”_blank”>Let Food by Your Medicine by Colbert</p>

    Try Once like this –

Thanks example82488. I think you are addressing my question number one. However, given that as mentioned, I am using the WP method, I have not coded this. Comparing very carefully, I see what is posted above does not exactly match what I have on my site. This is an ongoing problem with WP links: they are automatically manipulated — to wrong.

But studying what you have said, it appears to me what you mean is to delete everything after: ….884″> Have I understood?

I did try this and now the link does work. However, it is not correct. One should not see half the coding . Let’s see if I can cut and paste it here.

Yes, that is what it looks like, with the <a href.. Very untidy and unprofessional.

Let’s keep working at this, tedious as it is, one question at a time. First, let’s try to pin down a way to get a text link working — correctly.
