Links after domain mapping
-
Dear WordPress.com Customer Service,
I would like to ask you about mapping an existing domain to my wordpress blog. I have read the article “http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/”. My question is: after I complete the three-step instructions, will my blog at wordpress.com be indistinguishable by function from a wordpress blog hosted at a third party provider?
For example, let’s suppose I have registered myblog.wordpress.com, and I have registered myblog.hu at an arbitrary hungarian registrar. I set up the domain mapping at the registrar, then at wordpress.com. After updating my primary domain to myblog.hu at wordpress.com, I would like _every_ link on my blog to be in the form “myblog.hu/2011/11/06/entry” instead of “myblog.wordpress.com/2011/11/06/entry”. In other words, noone could tell if the blog is hosted at wordpress.com or at a hungarian server running the latest wordpress application. Of course, there may be footers, or headers, images showing that the blog is hosted at wordpress.com, but I would like all the links referring to my content, comments, etc. to show myblog.hu as the host.
Is that the way domain mapping works?
Best regards,
Tamas Trasy

That is correct, all links will display the mapped domain, and links to the old WordPress.com domain will redirect perfectly.
