links being redirected
-
Hi , I have a blog on wordpress mrben09.com
This blog has worked fine up until i switched to the custom domain. Now if anyone on blogger links to it (my 2 biggest traffic drivers), the get the wrong address (https:/mrben09.wordpress.com). One i dont think i have a https site and two this address is being received when they add mrben09.com as the address in their add link area of blogger. I have since set up a test site to prove this (test blog
you can see that on the test post, the reference is correct but on the blogroll it is wrong. I have also added for reference another wordpress custom domain blog (kate gets lit) and that site references correctly. This means there must be a setting in my blog that isn’t correct and chucking out this info.I haven noticed that in the my blogs area of my dashboard, the blog is referenced as mrben09.wordpress.com and not mrben09.com. This is very annoying and effectively taken my blog out of action, since spending good dollar with wordpress to get the custom domain.
HELP PLEASE
BEN.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Sorry I should of added, that the main issue is here, that you cannot see my latest posts on the referring sites (in their blogroll) as the address they think is where the blog is is wrong.

This is the RSS Feed URL for your posts http://mrben09.com/feed/
The feed is valid an operational.Provided the Blogger blogs can draw from a feed then that’s all you need. If they cannot draw from it we do not provide support for any sites except WordPress.COM hosted blogs. In that case you will need to post to the Blogger help desk. https://support.google.com/blogger/?hl=en#topic=3339243

As proved in my example the issue is at the wordpress end, as on my example blog I set up at BlogSpot, I have added mrben09.com and it redirects to a https site, not mrben09.com/feed . This is why I also linked to the kate site (which is also wordpress.com hosted with a custom domain). That domain references properly unlike mine. Hence the issue is at the wordpress end. Can you explain why on the my blogs section of my dashboard it still references mrben09.wordpress.com and I cannot change to mrben09.com ?

That is normal – you always work in the base blog Dashboard, not the mapped domain name
The problem you might be having with the links is if the referring links to your blog here have https then there will be a security mismatch of the security / encrypted certificate not matching your mapped domain name – that is normal – you did not see the issue with your base blog because the security certificate matches the base domain name (wordpress.com)
changing the links to http should fix the error – I think there is a fix in the works for the https thing but not sure when it will be enabled

Thanks for your answer but I don’t have any https links in my blog. I have no certs for mrben09 either.
Something in wordpress is redirecting the entry in blogger from http://mrben09.com (the entry I put in at the add link window within) to https://mrben09.wordpress.com.
The only reason this could happen is because wordpress is returning this address from whatever query blogger makes against http://mrben09.comI assume the route is name server (wordpress) which returns https://mrben09.wordpress.com to which blogger adds “/feed” to obtain the RSS.
Therefore something within wordpress is making this change.

I tagged this thread for Staff support twice now. I do not know why the tag was removed. Tagged again.

Hi there!
I just took a look at the linked test post. When I clicked on the link I was directed to your site without the s in the URL. When you click on that link, are you directed here instead:
I also see that the link in the sidebar there does in fact go to the https version of your WordPress.com feed URL. However I just set up a Blog List gadget on my test Blogger site and entered your URL as mrben09.com and it pulled up your URL correctly:
http://testblogsjr.blogspot.com/
Can you try removing that site from your gadget and adding it back with the correct URL?

Thanks for your help. I have done this and it now seems to work. Weird its taken this long, but all good. Only issue now is the following. The last post doesn’t appear under my name but does from everyone else listed (on the test site http://mrben09.blogspot.com). This may be a blogger issue so i’ll contact them.
Thanks

It looks like a Blogger issue. I’m honestly not sure why your link gets the /feed added to the end of it when the other links don’t, but I think that’s probably why the latest post isn’t listed. When I was testing, the feed extension is being added by Blogger not us.
Let me know what you hear from Blogger!
