Links from my blog that I didn’t add?

Forgive me if this is an obvious question – I’m a little new to this blogging thing!

Checking my stats recently, I’ve noticed that some of Links that are being clicked on my blog are links that I didn’t put in there. They show up on my Top Clicks widget too. microsoft-secure.tk is an example of this – I have no idea what this is or who it’s for, never mind adding it to one of my entries – and I’ve recently seen links to pharmaceutical and drug sites, again not links I’ve added.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what’s going on?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There are generally two reasons for this:

    1. WordPress does put advertising on certain sites, but makes it invisible to the blog owner when they’re logged in. It sounds paranoid, but there you go.

    On Ads

“We very occasionally show Adsense (contextual text ads) on post and tag pages… . The ad code tries hard not to intrude or show ads to regular readers, which means a small percentage of page views.”

That one’s doubtful, however, unless you’re getting a high number of page views.

    2. There’s also a ‘special’ feature on WordPress called “related links”. It places automatically generated links at the bottom of your posts, the links are chosen based on your tags, categories, key words and probably witchcraft.

To turn off the links, go to Appearance > Extras and click in the appropriate box.
