Links hacked
-
Help! I logged into my site today for the first time in almost 2 years and noticed something terribly disturbing. Any and all links I click on from any of my posts, take me to a new webpage with pornographic images. Please help me figure out what to do about this. I don’t want anyone who visits my site to deal with this! For the time being, I selected the option to show “coming soon” on my website to see if that helps. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi there,
Can you confirm the URL of the site you’re speaking of?
The site you indicated above, http://urbanwifediaries.wordpress.com/, has been deleted, and the other site in your account doesn’t contain any content.
I can assure you that there has been no unauthorised access to your account.
The kind of thing you describe most often happens if you’d been linking to another website at a particular domain. It’s possible the domain had since expired, and had been bought by someone else who connected it to a different site.
So nothing changed on your site itself. But the location of a domain you’d included in your content changed. That has nothing to do with your site, and there’s no way to automatically detect when something like this happens, or to prevent it from happening. It’s just part of how the web works, unfortunately – no website you link to is guaranteed to exist forever.
I hope this helps, but let me know if you have any other questions.
