Links in pages not working
-
I have put a ton of links using the “chain” looking icon into blog pages and when i click on them, it goes to a page in wordpress that says “types of blogs”. Does anyone know why these aren’t working?
I am not savvy at all with this. Any help is appreciated.
Thank you,

read the links and that was how I did the links, but even when I edit, the url is there, but the link goes to that “types of blogs” page when I click on it??

That’s correct. The ToS department wants you to read carefully which types of blogs are allowed and which are not allowed.
In a nutshell no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM
The advertising exceptions noted in support documentation are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, and for extremely high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program.

If you have any further questions about advertising and/or affiliate links and/or ecommerce on a free blog from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM please contact Staff directly using this link. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/
If you do require an ecommerce site, advertising and/or affiliate links you can hire a web host and get a free software install from http://wordpress.org Refer to > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Yes, I understand this and plan on moving my blog to godaddy hosting with wordpress. I was just about to do this an noted that the links didn’t work. So once I move it over to godaddy hosting with wordpress, will the links then work? I stopped the presses because I didn’t want it over and live with the links not working???
Thank you so much,

You can have as many affiliate links and links driving traffic to as many other sites and as many advertising links as you wish on a WordPress.org install, provided the web host you require allows them.
Are you clear on what can be moved and what cannot be moved? Your content can be moved using the export function to create a file and place it on your desktop, and then by using the import function to move it into your new WordPress.ORG install that you must set up first. The theme cannot be moved as the WordPress.com and WordPress.ORG operate on different software.
In the old blog, go to Tools → Export and download the XML (WXR) file to your computer.
In the new blog (on WordPress.com), go to Tools → Import → WordPress and upload the file you downloaded in step 2. You can choose the option to Download & import file attachments if you want to move your media files.DiY instructions here > Setting up a self-hosted WordPress.org install > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/11/06/setting-up-a-self-hosted-wordpress-org-install/

Thank you.
Can I ask you one more thing?
These are the instructions GoDaddy gave me for moving the blog and it looks like they are the same as you told me up above. My question is about Export step 6 (what is the wp-content folder?)
To Export and Download a Personal Blog Away from a Server
Log in to your WordPress dashboard. For example,
http://coolexample.com/wp-admin, where coolexample.com is your domain name.
Click Tools, and then select Export.
Click Download Export File. This saves an XML file to your computer— the file name looks like wordpress.date.xml.
Log out of the WordPress dashboard.
Connect to your existing hosting account using File Transfer Protocol (FTP). For more information see What is File Transfer Protocol (FTP)?
Download the wp-content folder to your computer.
If you’re using the same domain name for the WordPress blog, you need to update your DNS, which brings your current blog offline. See Setting Nameservers for Your Domain Names for more information.Importing and Uploading WordPress Data into a New Location
To import and upload your personal WordPress blog to our servers, you need to access the new hosting server and WordPress administrator dashboard.
To Import and Upload a Personal Blog To a New Server
Connect to your new hosting account using File Transfer Protocol (FTP). For more information see What is File Transfer Protocol (FTP)?
Upload the previously-exported folder (coolexample.com, in our earlier example) and replace the contents of the existing wp-content folder in your new hosting account.
Log in to your new WordPress dashboard. For example,
http://coolexample.com/wp-admin where coolexample.com is your domain name.
Click Appearance, and then select Theme.
Select the theme you want, and then click Activate.
Click Tools, and then select Import.
Click WordPress, click Browse to locate the previously saved XML file on your computer, and click OK.
Click Upload file and import.
Click Submit.
