Links insert themselves random places during posting…

Recently, I’ve been seeing much more strangeness when I’m creating a post. What happens is that when I copy a string of text and move it to a different place in the body of text, WP will unbidden, place some part of that copy lower down in the body of the post. Usually under a picture. And it will make that a link.

Similar things have occurred for years now as regards to the line right below a picture ‘auto-set’ as a link (something I NEVER want) but recently it’s change to this ‘insert clickable portions of that text you just copy & pasted in random places’.

I’ve even found that it’s moved pictures around and/or just deleted them.

I has become a struggle to write a post lately and I have to repeatedly edit out this weirdness.

Is there a cure? Was it caused by a recent update? And can I back away from it?

    Thanks.

PS I’ve been writing this blog since ’04, but I’m no WP expert…just have lots of experience with it.
