Links inside a post

  I’ve been adding links under words for almost a couple years now. I blog from an iPad. Today when trying to post, I highlight the word and then click the link icon. There used to come open a window where I could choose for it to open in a new window and then add link. Today just a line box opens and when a paste the link it doesn’t allow me to add it. I’ve tried and tried and tried to no avail. Did the procedure change as I don’t seem to be able to find the old window and this new one line thing doesn’t give me option to add link.
