links not going to blogs but to technoati instead

drmike – I received this in email from a regular visitor to my http://bloggersblurt.wordpress.com blog.
TT – Did you know that when you click on any of your “bloggers” links it goes to a Technorati “add bloggers blurt.wp.com to your favourites”? Is this what you intended? I know that my blogroll links go the the actual blog of the person…just wondering if you were aware this was happening.
I checked it out and when I click the links I go directly to the blogger’s sites and not to technorati as described above.
Would you help with this please? I haven’t a clue what to do about it.

Maybe she should clear cache and she might also have a virus. But one time someone sent me an email asking to add their site to my blogroll. But when clicked, it went to someone else’s site. I was still in my email account. So I cut and paste the url link in the search bar and it worked. Maybe it’s a crazy bug on her end.

My techie needed pottery for his wife’s birthday on Sunday so he came in which was cool as I didn’t have to pack my C drive over to him. My computer is clean no viruses. Windows xp firewall off as usual. Norton internet safety working fine firewall on as usual. Router properly configured. Firefox browser prompting me to clear cache after evry time I leave the internet. He went back to his office and used my links without a problem – he clicked on them and ended up directly on the blogs he expected to. Nosy will you please give one of my links a try under “bloggers” at http://bloggersblurt.wordpress.com and let me know what happens. I’ve got to eat and then go back to work. I’m pulling an all-nighter in the studio tonight and maybe tomorrow night too – no joy – but I will check in and see what message you leave on the forum.

Oh boy! I clicked a few of them and they all went to Technorati. Did you put the links right with no spaces? But it’s still weird that they all went to Technorati though. Why there? Maybe there’s a broken Technorati tag somewhere.

This is driving me nuts. I signed out and came in again as though I was a stranger with only front end access. I had no problems.
ARggghh!!
I looked for a broken tag but couldn’t find the needle in whatever haystack I looked in.
Thank goodness I’m on drmike’s morning list. -

tt have u tried to redo your links? as in retype the proper url for the new link and see if it still goes to technorati?

Okay. I think I got something. I know it has something to do with the Technorati favorites in that widget. But I checked the page source and found a few things:

You didn’t close that tag.

There’s a space before the / which it shouldn’t be I don’t think.

There’s also a space before the /.

Okay I now have closing tags everywhere I think [she said muttering with her brows knit and fingers crossed]. Will you please test this again and see if it’s working properly now?

The links are now going to this url:
http://www.charityguide.org/volunteer/environmental-protection.htm
instead of technorati. And that’s all the links on the left hand side-bar. It isn’t at my end. -

ARRGGHH! Thanks for the heads up girls I really appreciate your vigilance and your help. I found the second missing closing tag after the charity guide code in the sidebar text widget [I think] but at this point with just 2 hours sleep last night I’m blurry eyed.%-( Please keep posting what you find to the forum and I check it whenever I can. I still have all day tomorrow until 8 PM to struggle through.
