Links not live on category pages
-
Hello,
I just started using wordpress yesterday and I have a question regarding the category pages. I have links in all of my posts and each post is assigned a category. When I click on a category link in the side bar I am taken to all the posts in that category which is great, but my links are no longer live, just plain text. Is there anyway to have them live?
Thanks,

That’s theme dependant I’m afraid. Every theme does things a little different int hat situation. Some display the entire posts, others only the title, some excerpts, etc.
-
thanks, carocat. do you know any themes off hand that shows the links live on the category pages?
-
I think the Freshy theme might do, but I’m not sure. When you select your theme, just have a look in the themepreview.
-
thanks, i actually just did that, i think i found one. it has an image in the header that i’d like to replace, if i can replace that i am good to go. :-)

carocat, apparently you didn’t take a look at blog and misunderstood usamade’s question: he’s referring to links WITHIN the text of his posts.
usamade: It’s inconceivable that links would go dead when you arrive at a post via the category link – or any other way. This is a bug; Albeo is a new theme, still under improvement (and not well-designed in the first place). You should report this to Support.

panaghiotisadam, I did take a look, but I know some themes have that problem or at least they did in the past. I think Sunburn or Emire have that problem as well.
And when I was looking at the user’s blog he was on Pressrow.

you have both been very helpful, thank you very much. i think the new theme i am using is perfect and better than albeo, and i can replace the header image with my own, yeah! i will report that bug to albeo, i thought it was really strange as well that the links did not work on cat pages.

And for those following along at home, it appears the blog in question is here http://usamade.wordpress.com/
usamade – please consider linking your blog in your user name as explained here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-to-make-your-name-link-to-your-blog?replies=54

thanks vivian, of course i was wondering how to do that, just hadn’t had a chance to figure that out yet.

ok, so it’s not a bug…received this email today…
Hi,
Actually this is how the theme is designed. In the archives of the Albeo theme, we only show the excerpt of the post. When the excerpt is shown, the links and other HTML are stripped out before display in the browser. Many of our themes do this. If you want to show the full post in the archives you will need to switch to another theme.

You mean the links within the posts snippets are not displayed live? I don’t know a single theme where they ARE displayed live on the category pages. I thought you were talking about the links TO the posts, not the links within the posts.

i’m not asking for any help, i was following up on my previous posts. panaghiotisadam told me to report my problem because it was a bug, i was posting the response to my support ticket that it was not a bug, but the way the theme is designed to work.

@usamade: Thanks for letting me know, and sorry I misled you; I hadn’t happened to notice that in any theme, I did (and still do!) consider it wrong, so I thought it was a bug (especially since you brought it up in connection with Albeo, for which several other bugs had been reported).
Now, I think raincoaster’s second phrase at 2:52 AM might be slightly misleading, too, as it seems to say that no themes display live links in category pages, while it only means no themes that show post excerpts. So let me also note that such themes are a minority: e.g. in Design>Themes>Page1 only two out of fifteen (Albeo and DayDream).
