links not working

I can’t get links to work on my blog any more. I follow the instructions, set up the link, save changes – and there it is in the text, in blue and all correct (that is, the link I am trying to establish works in the draft post). But when I actually publish the post the link does NOT work. Any ideas? I’ve been blogging for about a year and linking worked fine until comparatively recently.

Can you please give me a link to a post where you’ve added a link that’s not working? I looked at your most recent posts and I see no links added in the editor that’s missing in the posts.

Thanks for getting back so quickly. The most recent post – blocked ears. I put in two links to two of my earlier posts. Both showed fine until I pressed Publish. Then they disappear from the editor as well. I know that sounds odd but it’s exactly what happens.

Can you give me the links to the two older posts and tell me exactly how you tried to link them? Did you use the link button in the editor, or did you highlight the text and paste the link? To which lines of text did you want to link them?
Can you also please confirm if you are using the editor at My Site ->Blog Posts, or the editor in the WP-Admin dashboard?

I’m going in via Dashboard. In Add New Post I click on Insert/edit link, then link options, I paste in the URL or search for existing content, type in the link text, tick the box open link in a new tab (although I have tried either way with this – ticking it or not ticking it – but the problem remains the same). I then Add Link and Save Changes and the link is there, working fine, until I publish. Then it disappears.
The links are http://morethanabitdeaf.com/2016/04/23/bad-hearing-days/ to be linked to the words survival strategies in the penultimate paragraph.
And http://morethanabitdeaf.com/2016/11/03/communicating-with-the-NHS/ to be linked to the words Accessible Information Standard in the para beginning “so a doctor rings me back”. -

I tried adding those links to your post, and it worked fine for me, so this might be something in your browser preventing the links from saving correctly. Can you please try clearing your browser cache and cookies, and if this happens again with your next post, let me know and I can take another look.
One thing from your description:

Do I understand correctly that you click the insert link button, and only then add the text that should be visible for the link? Please try typing the text instead, highlighting it, and then clicking the link icon in the toolbar.

Hello again. I haven’t had time to look at the browser problem issue (not been well) but I’ve just tried the advice in your last sentence on my latest post and everything worked fine. THANK YOU. Great service.
