Links not working

  When I click on any of the links in the sidebar of my blog, I get this error message:

  ____
  Not Found

  The requested URL /wordpress/blog/2010/10/ was not found on this server.
  ____

  I have WordPress 3.0 installed and this only became a problem when I tried to enable multi-user functionality. I got as far as adding a blogs.dir to wp-content when everything broke down.

  I have searched the forums but none of the proposed solutions seem to work. My .htaccess file looks like this:

  RewriteBase /wordpress/
  RewriteRule ^index.php$ – [L]
  RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f

  # END WordPress

  And the permission is set to 666.

  Any suggestions?
