links not working when signed in
-
Hi. I run American Everyman ( https://willyloman.wordpress.com/ ) and I am having a problem. When I log in, if I open an article I’ve written on my blog, none of the links work. None in the article, none of the links on the blog roll. Nothing below my header works. I can’t even copy and paste from anywhere on the page. it’s like my article is nothing but an image of the original. Others have signed in and told me the same thing. What is that? Please help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ok. I reopened the page in Chrome as opposed to Firefox and it’s the same thing. What’s going on? is this just me?

The links work fine for me. That’s an indication the issue is at your end of things. In order to help you Staff need to know your specific computing environment details. Please work through what follows and report back.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/
(a) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
If applicable see here for instructions on how to clear the cache for Chrome and Safari on the iPad:
http://browsers.about.com/od/howtousemobilebrowser1/ss/safari-ipad-clear-cache.htm
http://browsers.about.com/od/howtousemobilebrowser1/ss/How-To-Clear-Browsing-Data-In-Chrome-For-Ipad_6.htm(b) Make sure that you have both third-party cookies enabled and JavaScript enabled
http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654(c) Disable all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily. Know also that security and firewall programs and programs that run incognito mode may need to be temporarily disabled as well.
(d) Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Add both *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com to your list of trusted sites under the Security tab. Make sure to uncheck the box for “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.” http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/#frequently-asked-questions
4. You can use this link to see if your flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not then go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ and download and install the latest version of flash.
5. Try using another browser.

6. If you are not successful Staff know:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/
(c) Exactly what you experience including what any error reports you receive state. -
“(d) Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/”
I did that. No change.
Flash is up to date. So is my version of Firefox.
I tried on Google Chrome, same result.
Let me restate what I said.
I can go to other WordPress sites while logged on and click on one of their articles, and everything works fine. All links work.
I can go on my site, my front page, and everything works fine. All links work.
But when I click on an article on my site, within the article, none of the links work, I cannot copy anything, and the links on the side do not work.
If I am not logged in, everything works fine.
So it is not about my browser or Flash player. it is not about the settings on my system, otherwise none of the links would ever work.
I have confirmation from another WordPress user that the same thing happens to her on my site.
So that is what I know.
“(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.”
Home PC. Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
“(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/”
Firefox 37.0
“(c) Exactly what you experience including what any error reports you receive state”
I just described them above.
thanks for your help

Um changing your browser doesn’t fix much I don’t think. A lot of my friends can’t click.
-
Yeah. Problem is, when writing, I often refer back to previous articles. Can’t do that when nothing on the page works. Also, I don’t know this for sure, but since other logged in WP users can’t click on anything on the page, doesn’t that mean they can’t reblog it? Plus, if they are logged in, they can’t even click on a Youtube video. even they don’t work

@willyloman
Thanks, in advance, for waiting patiently for Staff to work their way through threads tagged for their attention before I tagged this one.@clashjayden
Where are your details for Staff? -
You know how some websites make their page into almost a picture so that people can’t highlight and copy material? It’s almost like that. Is there a privacy setting like that on WP? Is there a “disable hyperlinks” setting or something?
-
@timethief … not a problem. It’s curious, but not something that is keeping people from reading my site, so, not a huge rush. Thanks for tagging the thread.

Experiencing the same issue for my website, but I’m far from the only one experiencing these problems.
-
@zakdude
Are all the othersexperiencing this issue also using the retired Digg3 theme like you and willyloman are using?Have you tried switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme (default theme for 2015) to see what happens with the links and then switching back?
https://wordpress.com/themes/twentyfifteen -
@timethief
I can confirm it’s not a Digg 3 issue, as some other blogs that have Digg 3 and CSS work fine. It’s not a browser issue, either. I think if you are logged out, though, it works. But that’s still a large issue. -
It could be a CSS issue. The sites I checked including:
http://cparmycentral.com/
https://willyloman.wordpress.com/
http://cparmycentral.com/
are all using the retied Digg3 theme. -
-
It is also not a CSS issue. I gained the CSS from http://smarmypress.com/ and compared it to my website’s CSS. Aside from graphics, they’re completely identical. But the blog I linked above works fine.
Blogs like:
http://smarmypress.com/
http://armyofclubpenguin.com/
http://umacommand.com/
Work fine, but blogs like:
http://cparmycentral.com/
http://nachoarmy.net/
do not. I’ve noticed the ones that don’t work are Digg 3, but not all Digg 3 blogs have an issue.
