why are some of my words tagged as advertising links? Is this just on my computer (a malware issue) or do all my readers see this????!!!

There, just in my question “computer” is turned into an add link… I’m so hoping this is my computer being dumb and not the new way wordpress is getting needed funds!

Hi there. I don’t see any ad links on your site and I can assure you WordPress isn’t doing this.
I don’t think it’s your computer being dumb, but rather your computer being infected. You most likely installed a browser extension or malware that is doing this.
Disable all your browser extensions and see if that makes this issue disappear. If it does, start adding your browser extensions back one at a time to find out which one is doing this and remove that extension.
Also run a malware scan on your system. If you don’t have a malware scanner, I can recommend Malwarebytes (just google it). The free version is fully functional for manual scans and it should be able to remove the malware causing this.

Thank you for checking it out for me… I was suspicious of malware being the culprit, just didn’t understand why as I thought I had malwarebytes up and running… I’m going to have to check my settings and see what the trouble is… thank you so much for your time!

If you’re using the free version of Malwarebytes, it doesn’t have real-time protection. Unless you manually run a scan it won’t pick anything up. Real-time protection is only available if you have the paid version of the program. I’m also not sure if it scans browser extensions, so check those as well.

thank you! I ran the scan and all is well now… no more turning words on my page as links to adds!
After the trial version ended I didn’t realize it wouldn’t do a regularly scheduled scan. This is a new laptop and the first time I’ve used malwarebytes as my malware protection…
