  i provide users with a link to an archived copy of external references in case the main link is broke, but WordPress is thwarting my efforts.

  link i enter:
  http://web.archive.org/http://www.nps.gov/flni/historyculture/todd-m-beamer.htm

  link that shows up when i click on it:
  http://disposableideas.com/2014/01/http:/25/http:/www.nps.gov/flni/historyculture/todd-m-beamer.htm

  as an aside: the link works fine on the blog summary page, but not on the ‘read more’ page

  i can use tinyurl … but that’s a pain. what’s going on?

  sorry … i discovered the link works on the blog summary page and SOMETIMES works on the ‘continue reading’ page (but mostly not).

  Try using the full web archive link:

  http://web.archive.org/web/20140209111226/http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/briefing-book/background/taxes-budget/off-budget.cfm

  Yours is missing the number after the web/ portion.
