what could I do to make the links in my blog to be opened in a new page, so people don´t go out of my blog when click the links?

can I make it using css?

In the 2nd step of this instruction for linking, you have a “Target” dropdown menu.
Select “Open link in a new window” and that’ll do the job.

thank you naokomc, but I did want to use this feature not in the post or in the links in to my text, but in the “personalize url” that you can add to your menu. as I have lot of links in my menu and they take you out of the blog.

isn´t there a way to avoid the links from the menu to take you out of your blog?

    thanks again.

You need to set the link’s target attribute to _blank
The html should look something like this. Substitute your link address.

    Hi guys,
Im hoping I can ask for help

I have recently bought the Custom CSS – How can make my logo at the top link back to the homepage. e.g. when people click on my logo it links directly back to my webpage. At the moment if you click on the logo it directs back to my blog homepage.

I have been informed that If i can somehow get a button or a link or something into the blog layout that takes the user back to the website, all I need is for it to have an ID attribute and I can place it over the logo, make it invisible, and make it shoot the user back to the site upon clicking.

    Please advice
    Cheers

    Gavin

Well, for one thing I’d advise you that blogs who, in staff’s opinion, exist primarily to drive traffic to external sites (like yours) are in violation of the Terms of Service. If that’s what you want, you really want to install WordPress.ORG software and host it yourself.

Other than that, I cannot help you.

    thaks bubbarico,

this is what I entered as url: http://davidfernandez.org/seccion.asp?0=2&1=419262&2=10261target=_blank

but the link still opens in the same page of the browser I am, I need that it changes to a new one.

    am I doing something wrong?

I hope this can be possible.

    thanks a lot.

I see in some html webs they say you can include

    <base target=”_blank”>

in your code so every link will behave opening in a new window… as adding “target=_blank” in my menu´s custum url doesn´t seem to work.

could be any way to include that <base target=”_blank”> in my css custom?

    thanks again

This is how you write a link which will open in a new window:

    <a href="URL_OF_LINK" target="_blank">LINK_NAME</a>

Please note that for code to be readable in these forums, you must place it between backticks. Backticks are in the same key as the tilde ~ and look like backward apostrophes ‘
    backtick `

but I have to put the link inside the menu bar, in the “custom link” window. so inthere I think I can´t put html, only the link itself.

what is exactly what I should insert then?

    – couldn´t I insert a css code which would tell “every link to be opened in a new window”?

I´m going to try to put code as you tell me:

    ‘<base target=”_blank”>’

I hope is this. thanks for the advise.

As far as I can tell, there isn’t the option to do this when you create your menu. It is not possible at all with CSS. And finally you used the ‘single quote’ mark, on my keyboard the backtick is on the left of the Z key. Sorry the answer isn’t what you were hoping.

ok, but what about inserting target = blank at the end of the link in the “custom url” in the menu section, would it work? because I´ve tryed, but maybe I´m doing it wrong

oh! I´m really trying to find this backtiks, but in my spanish keyboard I just don´t find them.

    thanks again

That is only possible when you are making an HTML link with the anchor tag. You can’t do this with the custom menus at the moment. Perhaps contact staff directly and and request it as a feature.

Feature request noted – thanks :)

    waw, I see this works…

I´m reallly finding everything I need and even more for making my web with wordpress, but sometimes I need more features, and I´m so glad to see that there will be more!

    thanks
