Links to jpegs and videos now show as the full jpeg or video… What's Up?
-
All of a sudden today I noticed that links I had to jpegs and videos, now are showing up as the full version. I only want the link to show. For example, the link:
http://subarutelescope.org/photo/pier_300.jpg
Gives the full image. I just want the link to show.

[youtube=https://youtu.be/uFLUT-m1dvk&w=550]
https://youtu.be/uFLUT-m1dvkShould give the video window plus a link below. Now it shows two video windows.

What happened???

Darn it… I wanted to give the HTML code I used. It should be:
-
Crap… I want to show the code:
*a href=”http://subarutelescope.org/photo/pier_300.jpg”>http://subarutelescope.org/photo/pier_300.jpg
-
Dammit:
*a href=”http://subarutelescope.org/photo/pier_300.jpg^>http://subarutelescope.org/photo/pier_300.jpg*/a^Substitute “*” with “<” and “^” with “>”.

And now the same thing is happening to Scribd documents I’ve posted!!!!!

Hi there. Simply pasting the link into the text embeds the image or video. As far as I know it has worked this way for a while. Or are you seeing this happen with previously inserted links that didn’t do this before as well?
-
This just started today, after about noon HST. I’ve ALWAYS posted links to the YouTube videos, and I’m not talking about just the raw link.
I post it as WP says to, [youtube=URL], then underneath it I post the html code for the link.
This is brand new, and I don’t like seeing all of my links to videos, jpegs, Scribd docs show up as the full window. I want people to see the link, and be able to click on that link, just like any other link.
-
Okay. I’ll tag this for staff to follow up, as it appears the embed function is now embedding links it shouldn’t. Please be patient while waiting for their response.

Hi there,
I have been able to confirm that the content is being embedded even without being on its own line and reported it to our developers.
In my testing it seems that if you unlink the content inside the editor the embed will not show. This may be a work around for now.

bdukes Thank you… I tried unlinking an mp3 in the posting below, but it simply added another audio player. I’m going to leave it up if you care to look.
The regular [audio MP3-URL] gives the embedded audio in the player, but the “normally” linked
<a href=http://www.linktomp3>http://www.linktomp3</a>gives another mp3 player, and an unloinked MP3 url.Posting: https://kauilapele.wordpress.com/2015/07/22/kp-radio-hawaii-7-22-15-a-short-update/

Hi kauilapele,
I just realized your “unlinked MP3 URL” was on its own line which is why the media player appeared. If unlinked media is within a paragraph then the player will not appear.
