Links to pictures fail after editing
-
Uploading pictures to pages is no problem (thumbnail on page links to picture-page). But when I later edit my own comment given with the picture, the picture disappears from the list of uploads that goes with the page and the thumbnail (which still is on the page) links to a page that says “Why am I seeing this? It looks like there’s a problem with the page you’re trying to get to” etc. I can find the picture back in the full list of uploads, but I can’t get it back on the page other than deleting it and uploading it again.
Note: this seems to be a new problem. This all worked well for several months, but suddenly no more. Is there a not too tedious way to work around this bug? A demonstration of the problem is on http://bzkczw.wordpress.com/new-page/ -

Yes, I can see them now, but I’m not sure if I understand what you are saying.
The link is there, but it is linking to a page that does not exist, or maybe is it a link to a private page that can only be seen by some? -

When I first uploaded both pictures, you could see them both – as you can still see the second one now. Then I just did some minor re-editing (adding a few words) on the comment that goes with the first picture (= edit page – view uploads that go with the page – edit the text that goes with picture 1 – save again – save page). That’s all and then this problem occurs. Also after saving the picture (with re-edited text) for the second time it suddenly is gone from the list of uploads that I see when editing the page, but it is not gone entirely, for it still is in the full list of uploads. I’ve done this many, many times for the last few months without any problem. That’s the strangest thing about this all.

I finnaly got what you where you saying, but I try to clone what you did, and it doesn’t happen to me :S
I edit both text on page and comment on picture, and it still comes out ok, not disappearing anything.
If anyone doesn’t have any idea about what is wrong, you might want to send a feedback to the team, ’cause it might be some kind of bug?
sorry for not being of any help :S

No problem, I just wondered if I was the only user having this problem (could not find it in the forums or faq, so I could have figured out somehow). I will use the feedback (tomorrow). Thanks anyhow!

For an illustrated demonstration of how exactly this occurs: http://bzkczw.wordpress.com/disappearing-links-page/

@familiedrexhage
These details and the link above must be sent to staff in a feedback so the problem can be corrected. -
Actually what you need to do is run through those images again but with the regular text editor, not the visual editor. Without seeing the URLs and seeing what is occuring, tghere’s no way to understand what is happening.

Take a look at http://bzkczw.wordpress.com/disappearing-links-page-2/
There is – indeed – something strange happening in the codes with each step. -

I’m wondering if it might be related to this issue:

I hadn’t tried that yet, but indeed: a picture disappears completely after realigning it in visual mode due to an automatic setting of height and width to “1”. Manually resetting height and width makes it visable again (and aligned as ordered). Thanks.

This is the code before and after aligning.
Before:
<a rel="attachment wp-att-46" href="http://bzkczw.wordpress.com/new-page/shenandoa/" title="Shenandoa"><img src="http://bzkczw.wordpress.com/files/2007/06/dscf0010.thumbnail.jpg" alt="Shenandoa" /></a>After:
<a rel="attachment wp-att-46" href="http://bzkczw.wordpress.com/new-page/shenandoa/" title="Shenandoa"><img border="0" align="right" width="1" src="http://bzkczw.wordpress.com/files/2007/06/dscf0010.thumbnail.jpg" alt="Shenandoa" height="1" /></a><img border="0" align="right" width="1" src="http://bzkczw.wordpress.com/files/2007/06/dscf0010.thumbnail.jpg" alt="Shenandoa" height="1" />Aligning seems to duplicate the image?! It is changing the first occurence of width and height that does the trick.
