may I suggest that providing the URL for the blog in question might be helpful to the Volunteer(s) who will help you when they log in and have time to do so?
Also I believe this may be helpful http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/

Here is the link
if you look over on the right hand side you will see ”visit us elsewhere”
but the link text is white so cannot be seen unless hovering over when it goes grey
how do i change it so they are visibly black ?

over on the right there is ”visit us elsewhere”
the link text is white so cannot be seen unless hovering where it goes grey
is there code somewhere to change this? as i believe i have already changed it mistakingly to white because i could see it before

I’m sorry I guess I should have been more clear. I cannot help you. This is the situation. There is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support. You will have to wait patiently for one of the 2 -3 Volunteers (usually 1) who help choose to log in and find this thread and give you a hand.

@applemacdaddy, I see only an image in the sidebar linked to facebook. There is no links widget.
-
The sidebar links have two different states: inactive and hover.
For the inactive (when the mouse is not over the link) you want to change the color under #sidebar a .
For the hover state (when the mouse is over the link) you want to change the color under #sidebar a:hover .
Do note that the above change will change the colors on all links in the sidebar, not just in the links widget.
