links widget in sidebar

Is there a way to create a “links” widget (for website you want to link to other than blogs) in the sidebar, that is easy to use the way the blogroll widget is and then have a tab for it, along with the dashboard, write, manage, comments etc. tabs the way there is for the blogroll tab?

=> Dashboard => Manage => Categories (Add category)
complete the fields for your new category and click “Add Category”A quick explanation is that you enter links into your Blogroll and assign each one you add to a category. You place the Links widget in the sidebar so the Blogroll displays. The links in the Blogroll are displayed in alphabetical order in accord with the Categories you assigned to them when you entered them into your Blogroll.

hi and thanks–okay that sort of helps but not exactly. When I did what you suggested–right now I have one website that I’m playing w/ (no blogroll yet)I made a category called website and put it into that, and unclicked blogroll and then my blogroll disappeared from the sidebar. I guess the website category needs to be a subcategory of the blogroll category. But, technically websites aren’t part of your blogroll, are they? Sorry, I’m so unsavvy at this!! I can’t sort out how to make a whole separate category for links to websites in a simple way the way you can for a blogroll…

I do not really understand what you are having trouble with. You can create a link to any Website and a Category for all websites to be listed under it alphabetically. You can also have sub-categories under your Websites category.
