Links with a blog show up as comments?

I’ve had this happen twice already, and I’m not sure why.
If I link one blog post to another (such as “I’ve already covered this here”), for some reason, a comment shows up in the older post with the text of the newer post! It looks like hell, so I go back and delete it, but is there some option I have turned on somewhere that’s making this happen?
Blog is americaincontext.wordpress.com, but I deleted the offending comments so they aren’t there now.

That’s a pingback/trackback and they show up to help people navigate around. You can delete them if you want, or you can change the settings at Dashboard->Options->Discussion under “Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks.)”
