Links won't work and then disappear.

I tried in putting several links in a blog post and the preview shows nothing there. When I click on Visual, the link disappears. Also the Link button in Visual is greyed out and does nothing when I click on it. The Link button works on the HTML but when I changed back to the Visual, the link disappears from the blog post. I started doing a short cut to my website on the Heart and Stroke Walk http://ocheartwalk.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=447007&lis=0&kntae447007=EEC5A64C096841149C91CF2D062CF2C5&supId=333433707&emaillogid=4795848833, but it disappeared. I also tried a link to one of my Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93gF-QORttQ and to the Facebook account, but they did the same thing.

Have you tried clearing your browser’s cache and cookies, logging out, and then logging back in again?

If it had only been the first link that was disappearing, I’d think it was perhaps that wp.com was incorrectly identifying the donor link as some kind of advertising. (If you continue having trouble with your charity links and all other links are working, you may want to contact staff to find out what’s up.)

I have a link to one of my Youtube video I made in a blog post in Jan 2010 and it still works, but I have not tried editing it because it might make it disappear. Unless WordPress changed how link updates, my Youtube video should work.

Have you tried the browser fixes suggested? You might also simply test it out in a different browser. The greyed-out link button makes me immediately think of your browser.

I’m using Ubuntu with Firefox. I also have a virtual XP with Internet Explorer. I’m cleared both caches and it still does the same thing. I decided to publish the Heart and Stroke Walk and the link doesn’t show.

I was able to put the link into a post in my test blog and publish it. When I clicked the link, it brought me to the donor page.
I don’t know what else it could be, but it does sound like something specific to your dashboard. Perhaps another volunteer will have more ideas for you.

Thanks mmadfan, at least I know it should work. I tried it on Win7 laptop with IE9 and it has the problem. That means I think it’s not browser problem.

It’s possibly a bug in your dashboard, since you’ve tried it on different platforms & in different browsers.
Do you have a test blog? You could see if it has the same effect if you try to put it in a test blog — mine are just named the same as my original blog, but with “testblog” added on. That way I’m not taking a “good” name someone else might want to use, but I have a blog I can just play around with and try things with.

I have another blog and I posted it, but it has the problem. Also the links work with a put in Links, but not on the post.
