Linux Desktop App error

Linux desktop app version 7.2.0, openSuse Tumbleweed

Posts load fine with the web-based editor, also with the Windows version desktop app.

In the Linux desktop app, I go to edit the post and get this error:

“This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.”

Apparently a bug in the linux version!!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I can see the source code of your post https://reformanda.wordpress.com/2021/10/03/joyful-encouragement/ contains a lot, and I mean a lot, of crappy html code. So it’s not abnormal you get this error nor is it a bug in the WordPress desktop app.
Do you perhaps write your text in e.g. Word? This is strongly discouraged as Word creates really crappy html. You find more info at https://wordpress.com/support/microsoft-word/

Apparently there is something different in how the Windows desktop app and web-based editing app process the html compared to how the Linux desktop app does it. My expectation is that the post would work the same way in all three places. Seems that is too much to expect.

Equally important is this: My workflow requires I use an embedded RichViewActions text editor to create the original document. I can copy the text to OpenOffice, Libreoffice, WPS Office and not lose any of the formatting. If I copy the text from RichViewActions or the wordprocessors and paste to WordPress, all the formatting is stripped out and only text remains. If I paste the text into a WYSIWYG editor like summernote, the formatting remains and the html it produces appears as you see it in the blog post.

Since the “crappy html code” at least appears to work properly in the web-based editor and the Windows editor, it would be really nice if the Linux editor did the same.

Wordprocessors use a completely different code compared to a website. It’s logical there are no problems when you copy your text between those.
When you copy such a text to a website editor, all non-html code gets erased as the website editor doesn’t recognise it. When you let a wordprocessor convert your text to html, you get non-compliant crapy html.
As already said, do read https://wordpress.com/support/microsoft-word/

The issue I brought up first is that there is something in the linux app that prevents me from using it. Since my blog posts look fine and I can edit them with no problem using the web-based wordpress editor and the Windows desktop app, I conclude there is a bug in the linux app.

For me, the ideal situation would be that the wordpress editor regardless of platform would accept formatted text from the clipboard and keep the formatting. It doesn’t seem like that would be too much to ask.
