    Hello WP Forum Support, 04-07-2023

Does the WP desktop app for Linux .deb file need some updating?

    I downloaded the wordpress.com-linux-dep-7.2.0.deb file from: https://apps.wordpress.com/desktop/

Placed it into the download folder in the administrator user account. Double clicked to install and find dependencies. There was only 1 dependence: gconf2.

I did not install. Switched to standard user and looked into the Linux Mint Repository and found gconf2.

Clicked the homepage link and found- 404 NOT Found page: https://projects.gnome.org/gconf/

Searching Gnome website I found the new project: https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/dconf

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GConf

In duckduckgo searched gconf … ubuntu and debian have many document pages on how to use it….

I am not a professional tech person, just trying to be careful. Sorry if this topic is already known. Searches in the forum and was not successful to finding this topic.

I entered into a chat with WP Happiness Engineers through my wordpress.com dashboard via my site: https://anaturalwaytoheal.com.

    The WordPress.com Engineer typed:

“Note that WordPress.com is a hosting service, so you are looking for the WordPress.org site, where you can get the WordPress software. The .org site is the home of the open-source WordPress project. WordPress.com is a hosting service for WordPress sites.”

The wordpress.org/support/forum/ tagged my topic in the Mobile App forum and 2 replys said the same, WordPress.com forum is where to post my topic.

Does the WP desktop app for Linux .deb need some updating? Please let me know either way so I can install the desktop.
