I discovered the domain was registered under (email visible only to moderators and staff)
Please direct all correspondence to this email address as emails to (email visible only to moderators and staff) are going nowhere -
We can help you with this, but we can only send the payment link to the email address on the account, so please correct your account’s email address at https://wordpress.com/me/account first.

I see you’ve changed your email to a different address than the one you indicated above. We’re sending the payment link to the email currently on file for your WordPress.com account.
Also note that your domain has already entered the redemption period at our domain provider. This happens when a domain has been expired for more than 40 days, and at this point we have to pay a $80 fee to them to get the domain back, so the payment link I’m sending you is for that fee in addition to the renewal fee of the domain.
Once we receive your payment we can email our domain provider to ask that they restore the domain from redemption.

Thankyou. Payment has gone through via VISA card.
Yes email address was changed because no one can remember the live.com one. I am the new computer support person.
Too many “Santa’s little helpers” causing the problem. -
Thank you for the payment. I have started the recovery process and I’ll let you know as soon as the domain is restored.

It can take up to 48 hours, as it’s a manual process – someone at our domain provider has to get to our email in their queue, and click a button to restore the domain, and then we need to see their email reply to us and add the domain back to your account on our end once it’s active again.
I just checked, and our domain provider hasn’t replied yet, but we should hear back from them later today.
