  I got the category widget in place. Now I need to fill in the actual categories, but can’t find out how.

  Hi,

  If you’re referring to a WordPress.com site, then see the Categories support page. Note, however, that a category won’t appear in the categories widget unless at least one post has been assigned to it. See the Assigning Posts to Categories section of the support page.
