list of essays/meditations/writings
-
I want to have on one page a list of my devotionals or meditations that one can click on and the piece opens rather than put each one in a new post. Is this possible and how do I do it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Easy. When you are writing them as posts, use the category or tag “Devotionals” or “Meditations” and then use a custom header and in the header, put the link to the category, like:
http://deaconessdeb.wordpress.com/category/devotionals
That’s the way to do this.

raincoaster said custom header but she really meant custom menu ie. create a custom menu and include the category in it.
We assign categories only to posts. We cannot assign them to pages.
1. Adding Categories via Your Dashboard
2. Assign Categories to your posts – Adding Categories with the Categories Module
3. Create a custom menu
4. Adding Category Pages to Your Menu -
I see you already have Pages you can include in your custom meu as well.
Adding Pages to Your MenuWe organize our posts by assigning Categories to them. When we publish a post it automatically appears on the running page for posts and also on the Categories pages and Archives pages. Note: There must be one published post in each Category in order for there to be anything to display.
A custom menu allows you to display Categories with drop-downs to sub-categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation where normally only Pages tabs are displayed.
If you wish you can also include Pages with drop-downs to sub-pages and/or custom links in your custom menu as well.
You are in charge of what appears in a custom menu. You choose the order in which to display any and/or all the foregoing in your custom menu. You choose which to display and which to hide.
