list of examples of different uses of wp cms or blog
-
I am a newbie to blogs and content management systems. Seeking to use wordpress for both a content management site for a small prof servivces practices; and also as a ‘spout off’ blog resources
I am intuitively challenged and would like to see different applications of wp, for different types of content and uses.
Where can i see a list of different applications of wp?
Also, as a beginner user of blog sw (not beginner to web, but not a techie, or coder) would like to find some discussion of how different bloggers are using wp features.
My current immediate needs are to use wp, and its templates (appreciate referrals to good template sources) as a content site for ‘brochureware’ for small professional practice
Also looking for templates ready to go for wp allowing me to start a blog, with minimum hassle …with step by step (ok I am really intuitively challenged) instructoins how to set up rss and inclusion in technorati, and other blog indexes
Tx for putting up with me (i am not really that odd, first did web site hard coding html back in 1994; when netscape was just emerging

My mother’s site is mostly an old-fashioned website, but i used WP to create it:
http://jblace.wordpress.comShe doesn’t blog, but she posts (or rather has me post) new lace patterns every once in a while. When i put a new pattern up (on a page, not a post), i also create a post announcing it. That way it gets into the RSS feed.
As far as getting started, check the FAQ link. Good luck!

It sounds to me as if you are interested in the downloadable software that is available at
There is a wealth of information about that software over at http://codex.wordpress.org/ and they have a separate forum for discussing it.
WordPress.com is a hosted version that does not allow ads or commercial information. You will probably not be able to do what you are interested in doing here.

I would agree, it would seem that you are seeking the control that is available by running your own install of wordpress and would head over to http://wordpress.org and then over to http://themes.wordpress.net for some themes to take a look at.

When I speak out in public about blogging, there are many people who seem to fear it.
I try to reassure them that there is nothing to fear and that it is no longer the province of a small cabal of elite high priests.
WordPress has made this so.
I tell them this:
IJACMS
It’s Just Another Content Management System.
You can do anything with WordPress (.org) that you would do with a content management system and usually you can do more since you have the source code and can make whatever changes you want or need to make.
If you can’t make the changes, you can easily hire someone who can make them.
For people who are REALLY fearful, I point them to wordpress.com to get them comfortable and to get them started with (non-commercial) blogging before they take the big leap and commit fully to the idea.
