List of pages widget in a page
-
I would like to create an all-inclusive page to include all the blogs pages, sub-pages, categories and links. Just so I have a one place stop for all content holders and pointers. Makes it easier to link to these items while posting since there isn’t a built in way.
Is there a way I can have widget type items in a page or could you point me to a painless way to do this. Auto-updating, of course would be optimum.
Thank you,

If you do not want to use the widgets available which can only be used in your sidebar and not on pages, then you can use either a text widget or a page. But neither will be automatically updating. (Pages sit outside the blogging structure.)
This will help you understand the blogroll, and the existing links and categories widgets and their relationships. Widgets are found here => Dashboard => Presentation => Sidebar Widgets
And this will help with understanding the set up and configuring of the individual widgets.
I think these ie. pages and text widgets are your only alternatives to using the individual widgets for pages, categories and links.

Some of the themes have what are known as Page Templates. I believe engtech covered these when he did his reviews. You’re looking for one labeled Links ro Blogroll. That would be autoupdating. When you visit Dashboard -> Write -> Page, you should see a tab along the right hand side labeled Page Templates.
If you can’t find a theme that you like that has these, the only other option is to copy and paste the HTML out of the page widget when you have it within your sidebar into a blank page. That, of course, wouldn;t be autoupdating.
Hope this helps,

I like the widgets, and find them quite useful, but not unnecessarily on every page. I especially don’t want to have all pages, links, and categories on the left or footer of every page. This is probably the biggest reason I asked the question. There is a base look/navigation for the blog, then I was hoping to have a page where I could privately show/link containers in the blog. I guess it’s mostly for pages as navigation to sub-pages (and possibly pages, depending on the template) is manual, so I am looking for a quick reference to them as I write a post. Not available, I will find another way…
