List of WordPress.com plugins transfering media files from wp.com to wp.com

  1- If we want to move a WordPress.com instance to a self-hosted installation, what are the plugins that need to be installed? Is there an official list of the plugins that are used on WordPress.com?

  2- If I want to move a blog from WordPress.com to WordPress.com, how can I get the media files transferred? On the support page http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/ it says:
  “In the new blog (on WordPress.com), go to Tools → Import → WordPress and upload the file you downloaded in step 2. After you upload the file, you can choose the option to Download & import file attachments if you want to move your media files.”
  Presently, I have a button ‘Upload file and import’. I don’t get the option you mention as I am taken directly to the next screen which says:
  “If you exported your site’s media files, we’ll import those for you automatically.”
  But then again, never did I get the option to export the media files on the export operation.

  Howdy!

  1) You can get all of the WordPress.com functionality by simply installing the WordPress.org package and Jetpack (available free).

  2) The import process should prompt you and ask if you’d like to import your media later on. Try running the process, and let me know if this doesn’t appear.
