List unused or duplicate images

This is just a feature request unless I’ve missed it. I think it would be great for media management if there was a one click one to see any image that’s a duplicate or not used in any page. Would help me clean things up a lot.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Great feature request! WordPress doesn’t natively offer a way to detect unused or duplicate media, but if you’re on a self-hosted WordPress plan (Business or higher on wordpress.com), you can install plugins like Media Cleaner or Media Deduper that scan your library and flag unattached or duplicate files.

For a more hands-on approach, you could also try an AI-powered assistant like PressArk (pressark.com) — it’s a WordPress AI co-pilot that can help you manage media, audit content, and perform bulk operations through a chat interface right in your wp-admin. You could literally ask it “find images not used in any post” and it would run the query for you. It’s currently pending approval on wordpress.org but you can grab it directly from their site.

In the meantime, a quick manual check: go to Media → Library, switch to list view, and sort by the “Uploaded to” column — anything showing “(Unattached)” is likely unused.
