Listing of featured offered and not offered in all the themes
-
A lot of questions about certain features go on and on, only for the person to discover down the line that the theme he is using does not support the feature in question.
I therefore request:
A rundown of all of the features in all the themes in a page-size grid. The themes horizontally at the top and the features vertically on the left side. If the theme supports that feature, it gets an “x” in the corresponding box. If not, the box stays clear/empty.
That way we can see at a glance what themes have and do not have what features.
I think it would eliminate a lot of questions in the Question forum.

I’d also like to see this particularly with reference to navigation issues in themes. Sometimes there are next and previous links and sometimes not on posts and in archive pages for example.
And now with new features being added-such as the sub-page listings on every page in Redoable-lite, the change in display of tags in Chaoticsoul (and others) and the option of using different templates (such as archives) within some themes it is getting more complicated to switch themes when necessary.
If I set up the archives page, for example and switch to a theme that doesn’t have it, there is a lot of unnecessary wasting of time trying out every theme to find out all the features that are needed. And by the time one resets the widgets, particularly the text widgets, only to find the new theme is not as functional as the other in some other way is really time consuming.
Yes one can take the custom CSS route and perfect the themes to one’s satisfaction but with numerous blogs that is both expensive and even more time consuming.
Also some announcement of tweaks to themes would be helpful.
Thanks

Check the tags to see which themes have a particular feature/what features each theme has. I’m not sure it has quite all the information you’re looking for yet, but the guy who set it up is around the forums quite a lot. I bet he’d be willing to add any other features that would make it more useful.

Thanks rosclarke. Tis a good start.
Would like someone (it’s always someone else’s responsibility!)to go through the CSS on each and give the tiny details like fonts, colors, etc. but that may be a little demanding and somewhat OCD-ish on my part.
But now that there are some lists of themes in use maybe I’ll have a go at the themes I am most familiar with and identify all those picayune things I am looking for. Good thing holidays are coming up-a little database project for my spare time! If I get even some of it done I’ll post a table on one of my blogs and make a note here for anyone interested.

You can find fonts, colours etc. on websites all over the internet. Just do a google search and you can find the codes.

A comparison of wp.com themes this detailed would be a huge project and a valuable resource. Perhaps it would be best done as a wiki?
Also, although a lot of themes have been added since, it’s worth mentioned engtech’s theme review:
