Listing/archiving non-blog content on a page

Hi a few months ago I asked a similiar question..some kind soul answered with the code and instructions etc..it looked very complicated…life happened and I didn’t get working at it and now can’t find the information..so going to ask again…I have no understanding of code, the inner working of blogging etc so please go easy on me..
I have a page in Publications on my site called The Bright Side. It is an archive of weekly columns that are published in a newspaper. They are not blog posts and do not appear anywhere on my blog other than on this page. At present I have been adding them weekly to my page The Bright Side in full. However what I really want is a list of the titles on that page so when the reader clicks on a title the column appears. How do I do this? I have spent the whole of yesterday and this morning reading about code and page templates and how to split content etc and have tempted a few things but still I can’t get the page to just have a list of titles on it? I guess it is only easy when you know how! If someone could take a look at that page at http://www.aileenmcgee.wordpress.com and advise me in clear uncomplicated language (the word code immediately challenges me) I would be ever grateful. Thank you in anticipation. Aileen

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    a) To find older threads you had started, you click your username (top right, where it says Welcome, —).

    b) You want a list of links. To where? to other pages on your blog, or to pages on another website? (can your columns be found online, on the newspaper’s site?)

Oh ok..thanks for that…I actually think you where the person who answered before..so will go check that…

I just want to list the titles of the articles on the page only. I have uploaded them all in full so the page is getting longer and longer..I just want to display the titles so that when a title is clicked the column comes up. No the column are not on the newspaper’s site..the reason why I am archiving myself. ..I am going to check the above to see if I can sort this.

    Thanks

ok..this is what you previously sent me …

Links to specific points on a page

I have looked over it and want to be sure it is what I need. .. I only want a list of titles on the page… I don’t want page jumps ie. I don’t want the articles on the same page ie. where you click a title and it jumps down/up to article..just the titles…is the above for page jumps..and if it is how can I arrange the articles and titles on a page / pages so it is only a list of titles on the page that takes the reader to each article?

    Thanks

Easiest solution: edit that page, add the list of titles below “Column Archive”, then switch the editor to HTML and paste the nextpage* tag before the title of each article. This will split your page into a series, with linking numbers at the bottom.

You can then turn the list of titles into links, if you wish.

Alternative: publish each article as a separate page or post, copy the URLs of those posts or pages, create links to them in the original page, delete original content of page.

It is SO easy when you know how! I am following your second option, exactly what I wanted. Thank you so much again.
