little disappointing
-
I’m a little disappointed with the flexibility wordpress.com had to offer. I searched up for themes for blogsites and saw the many beautiful and professional wordpress designs…which I thought belonged to wordpress.com…little did I realized it was not!
Is there really absolutely no way you could allow wordpress.com to take in the masses of themes available out there for wordpress anyway? (Yes, i’ve read the explanation your staff has made…and I understand why it’s not possible…but is there no way to work through it?)
And I was also given the impression that wordpress was the supreme of all the other weblog sites…but until I created an account here to begin a new phase of my blog, I realized I couldn’t move my blog from livespaces (which has its many flaws too) to here as easily as I thought. Is there an easier way of moving my whole bulk of information from there to wordpress easily as your features page could claim?
Thanks!!

Each theme you see out there on the web has to be modified to run on the multi-user software here at wordpress.com and to remove security holes in the themes so that they do not effect others.
You can, with the CSS upgrade, modify the themes wordpress.com offers, but there is not official support for CSS so unless you have experience it is not recommended.
If you want full control, hire a webhost, download the software from wordpress.org and you have full control over everything.

Or you can, of course, hire a CSS designer to adapt an existing theme for WP.com, provided the creator of the theme allows it, or to design you a custom theme.
