Live blogging/updates
-
Hi,
Bit of an odd one maybe, but I was wondering if it was possible to do live blogging?
I am hosting the live stream of a film premiere on my site Thursday evening from around half five & I wanted to know if I could keep the site updated throughout the event?
An example would be the way the BBC updates its live reporting of football matches: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/32536396
I really want to do this, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time.

I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble. However, http://whataboutthetwinkie.com/ is a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, which we really can’t help with.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
WordPress.org has complete documentation and support sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at http://codex.wordpress.org/ and http://wordpress.org/support/

Oh ok, I know it has passed now, but for future reference, will it not be possible to do live updates?
Thanks for your help.

Yep! You can do live blogging. However, you’ll need to do it with the P2 Theme shown here:
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/p2/
That theme has a specific built-in feature that allows for updates without requiring readers to reload the page!

The P2 theme is the only theme that I’m aware of at WordPress.com that updates the page without a page refresh. Other themes on WordPress.com require readers to refresh the page in order to see new blog posts. For live blogging, you’ll likely want the P2 theme as readers would be able to see live updates without refreshing.
