Live links go dead after I paste them into WordPress editor

  • Unknown's avatar

I usually have no troubling copying articles with links in them and pasting the articles into WordPress editor. However, when my friend with a PC sends me articles with links, the links “die” when I copy them into wordPress editor.

My friend types his articles into WORD 2003. Then he copies and pastes that into his email program, Microsoft OUTLOOK 2003.

When I receive the email, the links are live. However (sob!) when I copy and paste into WordPress editor, the links go dead. This happens whether or not I paste into the little bitty WORD box: All of my friends live links go dead.

Why is this happening and how can it be fixed so that the links stay hot/alive when they are pasted into my WordPress Editor?

    Thanks…

We’ve covered this, haven’t we? All formatting is stripped out when you paste from Word now, because otherwise it will ruin your blog.

Just copy the URL of the link and add it in the old-fashioned way.

I don’t recall having covered it, no.

You won’t be able to copy and past anything from Word. That gave me headache when I started using wp.
You can copy and paste the link or use “add a link”.

I know this was covered/answered, but I am putting my links in the old-fashioned way and they just started going dead. Not copied & pasted from Word or other doc, but written in on the blog using code. Should that work? Can someone provide insight?

    Many thanks,
    Holly
