  I need help in creating a blog page. Does WordPress.com give instructions over the phone?

  Only those with Business upgrades have live chat support. This is a peer support forum where Volunteers and Staff work cooperatively to deliver WordPress.com support. There is no phone support here and we Volunteers do not provide support by email. Volunteers answer the majority of questions posted into forum threads and Staff monitor. When Volunteers cannot provide the required support we flag threads for Staff attention.

  Please simply post exactly what you need help with into this thread, knowing there’s rarely ever a question posted here that has not already been asked and answered.

  Some WP.com consultants, such as myself, do provide paid phone support, but it is not cheap, not by any means. You can get answers to your technical questions here in the forum or in the Support docs for free and generally faster http://en.support.wordpress.com

  Thank you timethief and raincoaster for responding. Here’s a couple of questions to start: 1. By using a free theme for my blog, as supposed to the Premium ones, will I have the flexibility to customize colors, fonts? What about adding videos? I have a cooking business and would like to add videos on how to, and blog twice a week.

  Also, I do not want ADS on my page, unless I decided to put them. Will I be free from those only if I use a Premium page?

  1) the no ads upgrade at $ 30.- / year will remove the ones by WordPress.COM

  2) you can’t sell or place your own their party ads on your site

  3) if you have a mapped domain you can apply for the WordAds plan which is a revenue sharing plan / split between you and WordPress.COM – however I am told you need lots of traffic (1,000 page views a day) to make WordAds or any ad system work and pay a meaningful amount of money

  You can do limited color customizing with the plain free plan

  You can add videos for free if you upload the videos to Vimeo or YouTube, then those videos can be embedded in your site
