Livewriter won't connect to wordpress blog

  I want to use Windows Livewrite with my WordPress blog (having given up using Blogger with because of the current Livewriter issues)

  I have used Livewriter for years and have set up successfully with Blogger and have had no problems in the set up.

  However I cannot connect to WordPress.

  Steps I have followed:-
  1.What blog service do you use?
  2.Click on WordPress
  3.Fill in web address for blog
  4. Username
  5.Password
  6. Starts to set up blog account ……
  7. New menu – Select blog type
  8. Windows unable to automatically detect your blog setting
  9. Type blog that you are using
  10 WordPress.com
  11. Remote posting web address for your blog
  12. http://<blogname&gt;.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php
  13. (change to) http://mumsmonkey.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php
  14. Click next
  15. Error box comes up ……
  Cannot connect to your blog service
  Network Connection error
  Error attempting to connect to blog at http://mumsmonkey.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php
  Unable to connect to remote server
  Please try fixing the problem then try again ???????

  I expect this is a very basic problem …. and I am missing out on something but I’ve been on this for hours now!!! Any help would be gratefully accepted.

  Hi there,

  We force all free web addresses (*.wordpress.com) over HTTPS now. Try following those steps but use this web address:

  https://mumsmonkey.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php

  After many hours I got it sorted …… but thank you for your reply.

  In the end it was simple (after so much trying)

  I was putting username in literally – i.e Sam Smith

  By putting in the e-mail address associated with the new blog it worked!!!

  DOH!!!!!!
