“LJ-Cut” link
-
I have noticed that some people use the equivalent of the “LJ-cut” tag that is used on Livejournal to shorten very long entries. There is usually a link that says “read more” that follows a short segment of their entries. I can’t seem to find the code for this type of link on wordpress anywhere. Can someone tell me how to do the equivalent of the lj-cut on wordpress??

If you’re using the visual text editor, it’s the button that has a dotted line on a page. You move your cursor to where you want the break to be, click it and that’s that.

Here’s a visual of what raincoaster is pointing out to you. It’s icon 13 that you need to use to insert the more tag if you are using the text rich editor. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/15/what-do-all-the-icons-mean/
If you are using the standard editor your simply click the button labeled “more”.

Moved to support. You get used to it as it happens quite often around here. Like 10-20 times a day. I kind of gave up mentioning it when I did it except when *someone* on staff pointed out that I should be doing it.
*grumble*
:)
Just for referense, you don’t have to use the “type something whitty here” in there. if you use just
<!--more-->, it will work just fine and give you a “Read more link…” or something simular. Some themes have different phrases coded in.Hope this helps,
