lj migration

  I’m interested in migrating over to wordpress from lj, but am wondering, what happens if (as I might do) I wish to continue using my livejournal as well as wordpress? would I have to re-migrate every so often, as it were? Or would I simply have to post in both blogs? Just wondering before I make the move.

  After you “migrate” and you want your blog on LJ to have the same material as your blog on WordPress you’ll have to post to each blog separately. If you migrate a second time to your WordPress blog all of your posts and comments will appear twice. Believe me, it’ll be very easy to post the same material on both blogs. Since you can register as many blogs as you wish on WordPress it’d be a good idea to test the process by creating a “test” blog first on WordPress… something like hfinchtesting.wordpress.com. Test blogs are also handy to have later on.

  Staff have requested that if a blog here is just a duplicate of a blog somewhere else, that it be set to Private. That way, search engines won’t penalize you for posting duplicate content, as they normally would.
