loading mp3

I just purchased a Space Upgrade for my blog at http://hack4hire.wordpress.com/ so I can post a few MP3 files. But first attempts to upload a file get an IO Error message. I have tried clicking Dismiss
Errors and I have tried clearing my browsing history. What do I try next?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there, to narrow down the cause, could you please let me know if this happens in another browser, like the latest version of Chrome or Firefox, or in a more recent version of Internet Explorer, like IE 9 or 10?

    Thanks for your help.

Is this where I write a reply?
Tried downloading Chrome and using it – same result.
I’m not sure what version of Explorer I am using but it was created 2010 if that’s any help.

PS: Sorry – took a surprising effort to find it but current browser is IE8, although I’m open to all updates. Computer is running XP Pro SP3.

  • Thanks for the info. If you’re seeing the same error in Chrome than the issue is likely not browser-related.

How big is the MP3 file you’re trying to upload?

Would it be possible to upload a screenshot of the error you’re seeing when you try to upload an MP3 file to help in troubleshooting?

Here’s a guide on how to make a screenshot, if you’re not sure: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

You can upload the screenshot in your Media Library in a graphic format like PNG, PDF, or JPG, so I can see it. Thanks.

Have uploaded a pdf slugged Screenshot but meanwhile I have sort of sorted the problem. The MP3 is 102mb and after coming across the warning about files more than 100mb, I switched to the browser uploader as opposed to the WP uploader and tried it that way. It all worked away for more than 20 minutes and I was ready to give up but then discovered the MP3 was in my library – and I seem to have embedded it in a blog post, although I still have to check it through. Will try again with some smaller files later. Meanwhile, thankyou Kathryn for your attention.

  • I’m glad you found a workaround – hopefully this solves the issue.

If you need anything else, just let us know!
