Local and publishing
-
Hi.
So, today I upgraded my WordPress account for 99 dollars, I downloaded WordPress 3.2.1, I downloaded MAMP and Cyberduck.
I managed to set up MAMP, I imported my blog into the local, did some changes and everything was going well.
Then my problems started. I wanted to publish the local blog, into my existing blog which is iseliniselin.com. I purchased the domain iseliniselin.com in April, so I had that already. After spending a whole day watching tutorials, reading worpress.org I still could not figure out how to get my local blog into my iseliniselin.com. Can you please help me here?
Now I have two problems, I cant seem to connect the FTP on Cyberduck, and as I understand thats not possible with WordPress? What am I to to then, to transfer the local blog and publish it?
Also, when I tried doing this on my own, I went to the Settings: General: and changed the addresses from local to iseliniselin.com, and now I cant access the local WordPress, I cant log in and I cant even see it.This is really just so frustrating, and I would really appreciate some help! Also, when I do all this, is it necessary to have the upgraded WordPress for 99 dollars? I don’t understand what good that does for me!

We don’t offer FTP access at WordPress.com, and there’s no need to tie a local installation to a WordPress.com blog. You have everything you need here: http://iseliniselin.com/
What were you hoping to accomplish with your local installation?

Full control over my theme and design basically, even though I purchased the upgrade version for 99 dollars it did not give me any more options? What’s the point of downloading WordPress and purchasing the upgrade if I have everything here: http://iseliniselin.com, which I don’t feel that I have..

I’m sorry, but themes can’t be uploaded to WordPress.com. That’s a feature of self-hosted blogs through WordPress.org.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/You may use any of the available themes we have under Appearance > Themes in your dashboard, and you may want to look into purchasing the Custom Design Upgrade to customize one of the themes we offer:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
If you require the ability to upload your own theme, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities.
Please see this link to learn about the differences:

Well, thank you, this is really helpful! :)
I don’t want to upload my own theme, but I want to customize the design and add plugins etc. (which I already did locally). Is it possible to move my wordpress.com blog to wordpress.org? I have transferred my domain iseliniselin.com to one.com, and have already downloaded WordPress and imported my wordpress.com blog locally. All I really need now is to publish it, but thats where my problems begin. Doe’s WordPress.org support FTP?

WordPress.org is just software, so you’ll still need to install it on a hosting provider.
If you’re interested, we do offer an upgrade called Guided Transfer (available in the Store section of your blog’s Dashboard) where we take care of everything for you.
Otherwise, you’ll need to install WordPress from http://wordpress.org/ on a hosting provider. We have some recommendations at http://get.wordpress.com/hosting/
Once that’s done, you can move your content following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.
http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/WordPress.org has complete support and documentation sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress at:

http://codex.wordpress.org/We do offer yearly and one-time premium support packages for self-hosted WordPress sites through our VIP program, available at http://vip.wordpress.com
