Local clock on WordPress site
-
Hi,
I have been trying to insert an analog clock displaying the time in Japan on the blog of our tour to Japan (coeinjapan.wordpress.com). I read that the flash codes are not accepted for security reasons so I tried an alternative code in the Text widget, as suggested on a number of WordPress forums I consulted, which is the Gigya code. However, even though I have followed all the instructions the best I could, the clock still doesn’t appear. Here is the code for the clock I was trying to insert:
[gigya src='http://flash-clocks.com/neon-flash-clock.swf?timeOffset=local&faceColor=0x000000&numbersColor=0xffffff&edgeColor=0xffffff&glowColor=0x000000&glowBlur=10&glowStrength=2&hourHandColor=0xffffff&minuteHandColor=0xffffff&secondHandColor=0xffffff' width='150px' height='150px' wmode='transparent' ]
Please could you advise me what to do?
Many thanks in advance,

Hi there, Support for Gigya shortcodes was dropped a long time ago. I do not have any alternate methods to suggest. Sorry for no better news.

Hi Jennifer,
Thanks for getting back to me, although I’m afraid your answer is not very helpful. Please could you let me know how I could include a clock with the local time in Japan onto our blog? Surely there must be another way. The last posts I could spot about the Gigya code are not that far back, I found some dating back to the start of this year.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Santoredjo,
Thank you for your help. Unfortunately this is the code I used already, as per my previous message, and it doesn’t work. Nothing appears on the page. Thanks anyway… -
@chamberorcheurope – Hello again.
Although you didn’t find my answer helpful, it does reflects the current use of gigya embeds on WordPressdotcom. You are welcome to link to the posts you mentioned so I can take a look, but what may have worked earlier on WordPressdotcom may not work now because of changes to the site or policies.
Here’s a bit more about current code restrictions on WordPressdotcom: https://en.support.wordpress.com/code/ and a bit more on available embeds: https://en.support.wordpress.com/category/embedding-content/
You might wish to suggest in the Ideas forum that WordPressdotcom offer a clock widget. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/ideas#postform
All the best.

Also, just to let you know, I did look around for other clocks as well and all the ones I found needed flash, javascript or an iframe. So none of those would work here because of our code restrictions and I would be glad to know that there is something currently usable on WordPressdotcom.
Again, all the best.

Thank you Jennifer. I might register this clock as an idea for future plugins on WordPress…
All the best.
