    I have transfer from Blogger to WordPress this morning while keeping the same domaine. To complete the redirect I need to copy and paste a code into the WordPress theme’s functions.php file. However, I can’t find it in the Revelar template. Can you helped? Right not stories on google will not redirect to the right page. It will hit a Oops! That page can’t be found page.
    Thanks

    Hi there,

    It’s not possible to edit any of your theme’s backend files, such as functions.php, here at WordPress.com.

    It sounds like the instructions you’re referring to are for sites that are hosted outside of WordPress.com and running on the free software available at WordPress.org. The difference between the two types of WordPress (WordPress.com and WordPress.org) are a common and understandable point of confusion. This guide gives a good overview on the two.

    An alternative to achieve what you’re after is to add a redirect directly through Blogger by following the guidance here:

    How to automatically redirect Blogger blog to another blog or website

    Let me know if that’s clear! I’ll be happy to help with any extra questions that may come up too.

    Hi Siobhyb
    Thanks, I did follow the instruction and cut and paste following

    <html>
    <head>
    <meta content=’2;url=http://luxartasia.com’ http-equiv=’refresh’/>
    <script type=’text/javascript’>
    var d='<data:blog.url/>’;
    d=d.replace(/.*//[^/]*/, ”);
    location.href = ‘http://luxartasia.com’;
    </script>

    <script>
    if (window.location.href == ‘http://luxartasia.blogspot.com ‘)
    {
    window.location=”http://luxartasia.com”;
    }
    </script>
    </html>

    But sadly the redirect to specific pages does not occur. If I type for example in Google: art dubai luxartasia
    I find this url http://www.luxartasia.com/2016/03/art-dubai-2016-interview-with-fair.html
    But If I clink on it, it tells me Oops! That page can’t be found.

    Am I missing something?
    Best
    Sonia

    Actually, I just figured out at the blogspot name was
    http://kolesnikov-jessop.blogspot.com and NOT luxartasia (obviously I set up so long ago, I can’t even remember!)
    But even replacing with the right blogspot did not solve the problem mentioned above.

    Hi Sonia,

    I wanted to note the following after looking over your site: WordPress.com is a hosting service. It seems that you’re paying for a separate third-party hosting service and embedding your WordPress.com site via an iFrame.

    Are you happy with this set up?

    If so, you could set up 301 redirects through your third-party hosting service in order to achieve what you’re after. Google have more information on 301 redirects in their documentation:

    https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/93633?hl=en

    Contact your domain provider/host’s support team for further help on setting the redirects up.

    If you’re unsure about your set up then I strongly recommend that you take a look over the following guidance to get an idea of the services that WordPress.com provides:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    As you’re already paying for hosting elsewhere, WordPress.org may be the better option for you.

    Please do take a look through the above information and let me know if you have questions. (I can appreciate the difference between WordPress.com and other hosting services can be confusing when starting out.)

    Thanks Siobhyb. Yes, the domain was been set up a very very long time ago via GoDaddy. I have been able to do the redirecting from blogger to GoDaddy domaine and from GoDaddy to WordPress.com. But I cannot redirect specific pages as mentioned above. I’ll try to figure it out with your recommendations.

    Hi Sonia,

    At the moment, you effectively have two hosts: WordPress.com and the host you’ve added the iFrame to.

    As you publish more and more content, search engines like Google will begin to index luxartasia.wordpress.com rather than luxartasia.com in its results.

    I therefore recommend choosing between WordPress.com or another host (that you’d use the software from WordPress.org with).

    If you’d like to use WordPress.com as your host, then you can completely map you domain from GoDaddy by following the guidance here:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

    It’s not possible to add 301 redirects through WordPress.com, however. Instead, you would need to work on your site’s content and build up its ranking again.

    If you’d like to host your site elsewhere, with a host that you can set up 301 redirects with, then I recommend installing the free software from WordPress.com and migrating your content over. We have guidance to help with that:

    https://move.wordpress.com/

    I can appreciate that that’s a lot of information to throw at you! However, I think it’s important to make sure we get you set up correctly.

    Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.
