Location function on Oxygen theme not working, confusing it with Google search

    Hello,

    I am using a static page as my home page and trying to populate “Recent Articles.” When I go to “Location” – there are no options to choose from, only a search box that when I begin to type, pull up locations via Google.

    Here is the text I see in the Locations box:
    ” Any location you set for this post will be public.
    Enter a location for this post:”
    (and then there is a google search box that auto-populates with addresses when I start typing)

    I have seen this issue on a few other boards but no answer yet.

    Hi Dan,

    The Location box is part of our geotagging feature, which you can read more about here: Geotagging

    When you first click in the search box, we try to guess your location. If we aren’t able to guess your location, or if you want to use a different location than our guess, you can type in that box to enter your location.

    Rachelmcr, thank you but now I am very very confused. All the other forums say that the Location box is not for geo-location to but tell where the post should go on the blog. The forums say that it should give options – primary, secondary, etc. – which you choose from and if you choose secondary, it will to put the post on “recent articles.”
    Does that make any sense?

    Hi Dan,

    It sounds like the information you have is giving instructions for the WordPress.org version of the Oxygen theme. That’s a little different from the Oxygen theme here at WordPress.com.

    The WordPress.com version doesn’t require a Location box to display your recent posts in the “Recent Articles” section. You can get information about the WordPress.com Oxygen theme on the Oxygen support page.

    Got it, I just added a bunch of posts and saw that they auto post to recent and more articles. Appreciate the help.
