locked out account – codes wont work

    So im locked out my account.

    I never changed my password but it says it’s wrong…

    Despite being damn sure I entered my current mobile number – it wants to send codes to my old number.

    Also to note: I don’t have the authenticator app. I never knew it exists for this site, until I am unduly advised about it now….

    I asked to send me an email to reset my password and that worked! BUT asks for codes (or code to my old number 2 year old since changed… )

    I have my backup codes but they are all refused. Now the lock is more serious and I have to wait a few minutes to try again….

    Now when I try again, all I get is a “Unsuccessful HTTP response”

    —- May I ask if this is a bug / problem on the wordpress side?

    Where can I go from here

    Resolved.

    How I managed it:

    1. Wait it out, let WordPress.com calm down and retry your luck with the backup codes… Manage to get in eventually accepting one of them, but refused most others…

    2. once in – CHANGE YOUR NUMBER, not your password, or you’ll get kicked out asit forces a code to be sent to an old number.

    – Lost a lot of hair from this. good luck, and may the gods be with you if this issue is you, too.
