Locked out of account
-
I recently had to create a new WordPress website because I’ve been locked out of my old one (abbiereadsbooks.wordpress.com). I hadn’t used it in about a year, and when I went back, I’d forgotten the password and made too many attempts, succeeding in locking the account.
To make matters worse, I don’t have any of WordPress’s “Proof of Ownership” things. I no longer have the phone number on the account. I deleted my activation email long ago. I never printed out my backup codes. I never purchased anything through WordPress for that site. I DID have it linked to a Google domain for about a year, but obviously that wasn’t purchased through WordPress.
Are there any alternative methods to prove that I own the account? It’s driving me crazy that it’s letting me reset my password but I still can’t log in because it’s sending a text to my old phone number that I need to verify my login.

Hi abbieford12,
I’ve been locked out of my old one (abbiereadsbooks.wordpress.com).
Without access to the account email address or any proof of ownership, we won’t be able to help you access the site.
I can send an email to the address we have on file for the owner of abbiereadsbooks.wordpress.com. If you still have access to that email address, just let me know and I can do that for you.
Thanks!

Hi abbieford12,
I’ve sent the email — we can work through the next steps there. Please also check your spam folder in case it goes there.

I have a similar issue, but I have no access to the old email account, which was a college email account that has been deleted. How do I get into my old blog site to delete it?

Hi nikolai681270917,
Please start a new thread for your question and tag it with modlook so staff can take a look.
Thanks!
