Locked out of Admin

    The guy that created our website passed away last year and had all the admin info. I updated some of the plug ins a few months ago, and now the drop downs don’t show so I can’t log in. Would like to keep the URL, and am will to start all over if needed. Ideas?

    Hi there,

    Firstly, I’m sorry to hear about your loss, and how it’s complicated management of your site. Sadly though, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host w6sce.org on our WordPress.com managed hosting.

    To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions.

    Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at Hostgator. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.

    You definitely have the option to move your site to us so we can provide in-house help, but as it stands now, we cannot help since it is hosted elsewhere. That said, I do know that self-hosted WordPress sites (like the one you have now) use a similar URL structure for logging in. Have you tried this URL? https://w6sce.org/wp-login.php

    We use a different (more secure) login system but that link should allow you to log in to your current site. If you do need more assistance beyond finding that login, you can get help in the open-source WordPress forums here, which is the support contact for the version of WordPress offered by your host: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

    Thank you very much – that worked to at least access the site. I would like to move the site to WP and will get buy in from a few others this next week. Thanks!
