Locked out of backend

  Hi there,
  I’ve just transferred a site to a new owner, but it asks for Username to login. I don’t know it, and the email address is not accepted. Can you help please?

  Hi there, once you transfer site ownership to a different WordPressdotcom username account you no longer have access. You’ll need to ask the new site owner to invite you to their site: https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/

  She cant get in to give me permission. We changed the password, but that didn’t help. And I found her username, but that didn’t work either. So I’m at a loss to know what to do. The site I’m dealing with is tasmaniabeyondtheseas.wordpress.com

  Hello again, if she can’t get in via her username and password, on the log-in page at https://wordpress.com/log-in?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.com%2F below the fields for username/email and password, there is an option to email me a login link. This is a one time log in and is sent to the email address currently on record in her profile. Ask her to give that a try and if she doesn’t see the email in her inbox, check spam as well.

  Hey @suzle, I can see that the ownership transfer was successful so, as mentioned, it’s the new owner who needs to access the site from their account and invite you in.

  Ask them to please follow the steps @justjennifer provided in the previous reply and if that does not help, they can fill out the form here:

  Thanks . I gave her the one-time login link and she successfully accessed the site.

  Hello again, glad to hear she managed to access her site.

  Now that she’s in her account and can access the correct dashboard, have her navigate to https://wordpress.com/people/invites/ so she can invite you to her site in the Admin role. She can invite you using your correct username or your associated email address. You’ll get an email that you need to accept.

  The “Adding Users” support guide looks to be MIA at the moment, but it’s pretty straight forward if she follows the prompts. If she gets stuck at any point, have her post to this thread.
