Locked out of “inherited” site
-
Hi, I have “inherited” a community site which had not been updated for many years. I have done various basic updates successfully, but the site wanted a PHP update. I started to attempt this although I subsequently gather that it is a free site and may not be eligible for a PHP update? The critical error screen now appears when I click anything after logging in to my account so unable to access dashboard, plugins, or anything. I have no FTP access as previous owner is not contactable, and it was many years ago anyway. How can I regain access to the site? Do I need a PHP update? Please could you copy any replies to (email visible only to moderators and staff). Many thanks for your help.

Hi there,
Good morning. I hope you’re doing great.
Did you refer to bigginhillresidentsassociation.co.uk as the website where you’re experiencing the issue? If so, it looks like you’re using self-hosted WordPress, not WordPress.com.
Therefore, it’s recommended to open a support ticket at the following URL for WordPress.org support.

Hi, thank you for that. I will do as you suggest. I am a novice at WordPress being an “old school” HTML man!
